When must I have completed the course by?
Each course has its own timeline, which will be clearly mentioned in your course details. Please ensure you complete the course within this stipulated time frame. If you need an extension due to exceptional circumstances, please get in touch with us.
I have to postpone my course; can I get a refund?
If you need to postpone your course, please contact our support team as soon as possible. Refund eligibility may vary based on when the cancellation is made and the specific course policies. Check our “Refund and Cancellation Policy” for detailed information.
What happens if I do not have the right ID for a course?
Valid identification is essential for many of our courses. Specifically for SIA licence-linked security courses, it’s imperative to provide a passport, driving licence, or your ORIGINAL birth certificate (the one you received when you were a baby). Additionally, two forms of proof of address, such as a bank statement or utility bill, are mandatory. If you don’t possess these documents, you might be eligible to apply for an exemption through your SIA account. However, you will need to produce evidence to us that the SIA has granted you this exemption. All ID (or exemption proofs) must be presented during the registration segment of the course. There are no exceptions to this rule, and failure to provide the required identification or exemption will result in an inability to participate in the course and refunds may not be provided (see our “Refund and Cancellation Policy).
I can’t do the practical tasks on a course; can I still take part?
Yes, you can still participate in the theoretical aspects of the course. However, some courses may require the completion of practical tasks for certification. Please discuss any limitations you have with our support team, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Is there a discount for group bookings?
Yes, we offer discounts for group bookings. The discount percentage may vary based on the course and the size of the group. Please contact our sales team for more information on group discounts.
Do you offer online SIA courses?
Door Supervisor and Close Protection courses cannot be offered 100% online. Be very wary of anyone offering this. We offer a blended learning approach, which means that you will register online and study part of your course on our learning platform prior to completing your course in the classroom.
Do you offer online or remote learning options?
While we strive to cater to the diverse needs of our learners, the availability of online or remote learning options may vary between courses. We recommend checking the specific course page for detailed information regarding delivery methods.
Are there prerequisites for any of the courses?
Course prerequisites, if any, are set to ensure learners have the necessary foundational knowledge for an optimal learning experience. Please refer to the individual course page for details on prerequisites and entry requirements.
Can I get a certificate upon completion?
Absolutely. Upon successful completion of your course, a certificate will be sent to your home address. If the course has been booked via your employer, the certificate will be dispatched to the employer’s address. You can expect your certificate no later than 4 weeks after course completion.
How are the courses assessed? Are there exams?
Our courses are assessed in a variety of ways, depending on the requirements set by the Awarding Organisation. Assessments can range from written exams to practical assessments or portfolio submissions. Many of our courses utilise a blend of two or more of these assessment methods to ensure comprehensive evaluation.
Are your courses recognised internationally?
The international recognition of our courses varies. We advise checking the specific course page for any details regarding international recognition or equivalencies.
What materials or equipment do I need to purchase separately?
Typically, we don’t require learners to purchase any equipment for our courses. Should there be any need for equipment or additional materials, it will be explicitly mentioned on the relevant course page.
Can I access course materials after the course ends?
Yes, certain course materials will remain accessible to you even after course completion, allowing for continued revision and consolidation of your learning.
Are there any opportunities for further learning or advanced courses after completing a basic one?
We pride ourselves on providing a spectrum of courses that cater to varying levels of expertise and learning objectives. For advanced or follow-up courses, please explore our courses page to find the right fit for your learning journey.
What is the trainer-to-student ratio in your courses?
The trainer-to-student ratio is largely determined by the requirements of the Awarding Organisation. However, it’s typically one trainer to 12 learners, ensuring personalised attention and a conducive learning environment.
Can I transfer to another course or date if I change my mind?
Our priority is to provide flexibility to our learners wherever possible. For details on transferring between courses or changing dates, please refer to our “Refund and Cancellation Policy”.
How do you ensure the quality and expertise of your trainers?
At Academy, the quality of our instruction is paramount. We undertake a rigorous vetting process for all trainers. Not only are they qualified to at least Level 3 in teaching, but many also hold qualifications up to Level 5 and 6. We carry out robust quality assurance processes, including regular monitoring and observation of all trainers. Additionally, we verify and validate their CVs and credentials. Rest assured, we don’t let “just anyone” lead our courses.
How do you maintain safety during in-person sessions?
Every course undergoes a thorough risk assessment both prior to commencement and on the morning of each course day. Safety is our utmost priority, and we take all necessary precautions to ensure a secure learning environment for all participants.
Are there any financing or payment plan options available?
Currently, we do not offer payment plans or financing options. However, we’re always revisiting our policies to best serve our learners, so it’s worth checking back periodically or contacting our support team for updates.
Do I need to attend every day of the course?
Yes, it’s crucial to understand that the Awarding Organisation stipulates a required number of attendance hours for each course. While we can sometimes provide options to make up for missed hours, this is not always possible. Especially for SIA courses, it’s mandatory to attend in class every day. Failing to do so might mean missing out on essential exams or practical assessments, ultimately preventing you from completing the course. While we aim to be as accommodating as possible, we must adhere strictly to the rules set by the Awarding Organisation. It’s always best to ensure consistent attendance to get the most out of your learning experience.
