About the Course
This qualification is for learners who already hold a Door Supervisor licence and are required to complete the ‘Top up’ qualification to support relicensing, available from the 1st April 2021 and mandated from 1st October 2021. This course also provides the mandatory first aid qualification that is required for the top-up.
You will explore:
- Emergency first aid in the workplace
- basic counter terrorism knowledge for security operatives
- commonly used equipment in the role of a Door Supervisor, along with proficiency in the use of communication devices
- restrictive and non-restrictive interventions, and the implications of their use, the hazards of using physical interventions and how to reduce the risk of harm being caused
Pre-Requisites
Age
All applicants must be over the age of 18
Mandatory
- Learners must currently hold an active SIA Security Officer licence which is due for renewal or has previously held a licence and has lapsed by no longer than 3 years. After 3 years, learners will be required to retake the full Level 2 Door Supervisor qualification prior to applying for a new licence
- Learners are required to complete 3.5 hours of online study and assessment (included in the online course materials) before attending the course in person.
- Learners must be able to speak, listen, read and write at a level equivalent to Functional Skills Level 1 in English (or higher)
- Learners must have either a valid passport, valid driving licence or an original birth certificate that has been issued to them within 12 months of birth. Certified copies are not accepted.
- Learners must be able to produce two forms of proof of address, such as bank statements, utility bills, council tax statement, P60 etc.
- Learners must be physically capable of performing CPR on the floor. Where learners are unable to perform practical tasks, they may opt to undertake the QNUK Level 2 Award in Essential First Aid (RQF)
Recommended
It should be advised that when applying for an SIA Licence part of the process includes a criminality check (DBS). It is recommended that learners with concerns should use the Criminal Record Indicator, available on the SIA website prior to enrolling on this qualification, to ascertain if they are likely to achieve licenced status.
